The candidates for the by-election have been announced.

On Thursday, October 5, residents will vote to fill the vacancy of councillor in the Borehamwood Kenilworth ward.

The snap by-election was triggered after Thomas Ash stepped down from the post due to work commitments in a different location.

The candidates for the election are:

Elaine Elliman for the Liberal Democrats

Vikki Louise Johnson for UKIP

Jeremy Newmark for the Labour Party

Lawrence Stack as an independent candidate

Pat Strack for the Conservative Party

Full details are available on the Hertsmere Borough Council website and in the reception of the council’s Civic Office in Elstree Way, Borehamwood.

The council announced the list of nominees at 4pm today.

Only individuals who live in the Borehamwood Kenilworth ward are eligible to vote, and must register by midnight on Tuesday, 19 September.

There are a number of ways to vote, and if you want to vote in person and do not receive your poll card in the next few days, contact the Electoral Services team on 020 8207 7481.

The polling card will advise of the registered person’s polling station, but it does not have to be taken to the ballot box.

To register for the postal vote, residents must apply and complete the forms by 5pm on Wednesday, September 20.

To apply for the proxy vote and have someone else vote on your behalf, the forms must be filled out and returned by 5pm on Wednesday, September 27.
