Hordes of 'Whovians' descended on Borehamwood as they awaited the announcement of the new Dr Who.
Award winning actor, film maker and lifelong Doctor Who fan Peter Capaldi, 55, was yesterday named as Matt Smith’s replacement at a live show at BBC Elstree Studios in Borehamwood
Fans queued all day, braving the summer heat, so they could be in the front seat for the big reveal.
Jacqui Connell tweeted pictures of people lining Elstree Way: “This is the scene outside as we wait to be let in! Excitement mounting.”
Fan Sophie Cowdrey queued for four hours to get inside the studios.
She tweeted: “There was a lot of queuing, though that was probably to be expected with the amount of fans there.
“The atmosphere was great! Really positive vibe from all of the fans.”
She added some people had suffered from heat stroke as temperatures topped 25C, with one boy refused entry because members of staff were worried about the hot studio conditions.
Non-Whovians were left bemused by the fans’ dedication, with Jeremy Crane @jezzacrane tweeting: “What on earth is going on in that picture?? Where is it? What are they queuing for?”
