Cuban-French author Anaïs Nin once said: “We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.”

In See As We Are, the aim of photographer, journalist and writer Edwige Bernanoce was to “pass through the superficial, get past first glances and create images that are between dream and reality”.

The second group of photos on display, Je suis la, focuses on formal qualities of light, colour, tone and shadow, aiming to “surprise the eye of the viewer.”

After beginning her career taking photos of theatre productions, Miss Bernanoce, 30, is still influenced by a sense of the theatrical. She moved from Grenoble to Muswell Hill nine months ago and since then has exhibited work in a central London cafe.

Later this year her photos will also be on display at central London’s Renoir cinema and Curzon Soho.

Entry is free. For more information see egbernanoce.com or call 020 8347 6890.
