Tenor Tony Yates and soprano Magda Kozyra are both soloists who perform regularly in concerts and operas.

They will join forces to perform a programme of songs from a wide range of composers.

The first half of their concert will present the challenging, meaty work of Ludwig van Beethoven, Lennox Berkeley, Gustav Mahler and Hugo Wolf.

Then the mood will be lighten with songs and duets by Frank Bridge, Gabriel Fauré, Francis Poulenc and Erik Satie.

Mr Yates says: "I’m a particular fan of Lennox Berkeley, who was a contemporary of Benjamin Britten, but whose work is less well-known. The words of his songs are taken from poems by WH Auden. They’re quite dramatic.

"The great thing about the venue, Lauderdale House, is it’s a really intimate setting so people are near enough that they can focus on the words."

Lauderdale House is in Highgate Hill, Waterlow Park, Highgate, and the concert will take place on August 21, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 (concessions £8) and are available from the box office on 020 8348 8716.
