Budding playwrights are being invited to show off their skills by entering a new play writing competition run by North Finchley-based arts charity, Community Focus (CF).
The charity, which celebrates its 30th birthday this year, is asking writers to submit their original one-act plays, inspired by the theme of ‘30’.
To reflect the diversity of CF’s work, there are two categories for entrants; the Community Focus New Writers Award - for unpublished writers over the age of 16, and the Emerging Writers Award - for adults with learning difficulties.
The work will be judged by a prestigious panel including representatives from Channel 4, Empire Magazine and Private Eye, and a shortlist of four writers will have extracts of their plays read by actors at the Community Focus Play Writing Awards to be held later this year. The judges will be looking for originality and imagination as well as a great story with a ‘30’ theme.
